Synology Gains New Distro Partner
Synology Inc. and EET Nordic UK today announced strategic alliance to distribute Synology's full-function, secure, energy-saving NAS solutions. The agreement will enable organisations to comply with the UK Data Protection Act cost effectively. The NAS products will be available immediately through EET Nordic extensive sales channel.
Booming demand in the slow market
A recent report from the Office for National Statistics showed the British CPI saw its sharpest slowdown in more than 11 years. However, the storage needs of SMB users for mission-critical data continues to rise. Businesses require solutions that help to minimise existing IT budget while still offering the latest storage functionality.
Synology NAS servers provide ultra-high performance and functionality, along with an intuitive AJAX-based user interface. Synology's management software, Disk Station Manager 2.0 adopted the advanced AJAX technology yet requires minimum efforts for setup and operation. Meanwhile, the quiet and energy-saving design of Synology NAS servers helps the environment and makes them an ideal solution for the current economic climate.
"From a view point of an IT distributor, the opportunity for Synology is great," Frederik Andersen, Director of EET Nordic UK remarks "The UK IT market is experiencing a change toward new data security policies for regulation compliance. Corporations and academic institutes are seeking better ways to centralise, back up, and, if necessary, restore their data."
Secured, multifunctional NAS solutions
Take the school teachers for example, compared with saving and carrying around all the student information in the USB drive, using a NAS device means files are shared effectively via a well-structured user privilege. The File Station feature Synology NAS products offer takes one step further to eliminates the technical barrier for non-IT personnel by providing a browser-based file organizer; it does not require advanced knowledge on FTP or VPN setups.
"Synology creates NAS servers of originality for the global market, and the security mechanism has been what we’ve looked high," Victor Chiang, sales manager of Synology UK explains. "The carefully-designed and Windows ADS compatible user privilege, selections for encrypted data transmission, and the IP auto-block feature in the FTP server function help ensure the permitted access to the files only and don't leave any slight chance for hackers in the Internet. On the other hand, users feedbacks are what we deem valuable and take them seriously in our every time firmware update."
The current market has been dominated by traditional NAS manufacturers who focus on delivering the traditional applications for backup and restore. The complicated settings and high prices always make potential users hesitate to build their ideal storage solutions. With the introduction of Synology's high-end NAS model Disk Station DS508, which has been named as a "server killer" by SmallNetBuilder, users could regard it as an alternative to retire their Windows servers for its price of less than £1,000 and its storage capacity of up to 7.5TB. "Not to mention the versatile add-ons equipped on the Synology DS508," added Chiang.
