Swiftech Apogee GTZ Extreme Performance Waterblock Apogee GTZ

US based water-cooling manufacturers Swiftech, has released the latest in their Apogee performance waterblock line - the Apogee GTZ Extreme Performance CPU Waterblock. Whilst the Apogee GTZ Extreme Performance Waterblock retains the same name as its predecessors, it reportedly offers significantly better cooling performance. Even better cooling performance than the EK Supreme it seems.

The Swiftech GTZ's cooling engine relies upon direct cooling impingement onto its completey redesigned Copper base plate. According to Swiftech,  this equates to an 20% improvement in thermal resistance compared to the older Apogee™ GTX. The Apogee GTZ Extreme Performance Waterblock is optimised for Intel socket LGA 775 and 771, although alternative mounting hardware is available for the AMD AM2 Socket:

The assembly features a patent pending design characterized by a topographically mapped CPU contact area which results in a 75% and up to 300% improvement in TIM joint thermal resistance compared to the Apogee™ GT/GTX series. Other types of sockets such as AMD® socket F, AM2, and 940 as well as upcoming sockets similar in design to that of socket 775 may also benefit from the enhanced contact area.

Pricing starts from US$69.95 for the Intel socket LGA 775 setup, and hold-down plates required for AMD and Intel socket 771 costing US$9.95 respectively.
