Specifications and prices have been released for the 8300 and 8600 series of NVIDIA graphics cards that are due out this year, specifically expected to be out this March. The 8xxx series are the first graphics cards to support DirectX 10, the new 3D rendering technology from Microsoft, which is often used in 3D video games. A nice little chart has been posted with general specifications and prices:
| Name | Shaders | Core(MHz) | Memory(MHz) | Memory(MB)
| Memory(buss) | Price |
| 8800GTX | 128 | 575 | 1800 | 768 | 384bit | $599 |
| 8800GTS | 96 | 500 | 1600 | 640 | 320bit | $399 |
8800GTS
| 96 | 500 | 1600 | 320 | 320bit | $299 |
| 8600 Ult. | 64 | 500 | 1400
| <512 | 256bit | $179 |
| 8600 GT | 48 | 350 | 1200 | <256 | 256bit | $129 |
8300 GT
| 32 | 500 | 1200 | <256 | 128bit | <$99 |
8300 GS
| 24 | 500 | 1000 | <256 | 128bit | <$79 |
We can only hope that those prices are right as they seem generally fair and affordable. Plus, the prices will of course drop after release which opens the door for even cheaper prices.
