High performance gaming peripherals manufacturer Razer today launched the Razer Nostromo gaming keypad in association with Belkin. The joint effort has given rise to a keypad that boasts of state-of-the-art ergonomics and tournament grade controls while being fully customizable.
Belkin and Razer joined hands earlier for the Belkin n52te Speedpad, which took the gaming world by storm. Improving on the success of that keypad, the Razer Nostromo brings some notable upgrades to the pad. A 16-button keypad layout has been infused into a form factor that has been designed keeping in mind the quick access needed to important gaming commands by performance games. A special, soft-touch rubberized wrist pad has been added to support the palm and keep hand fatigue and wrist strain at bay.
Each of the 16 buttons are Hyperesponse gaming ones and can be fully customized for amazing key activation accuracy. The directional thumb pad moves in eight directions for super-fast key actuation and crisp response. The thumb pad too is programmable for use for movement or as modifier keys to access additional commands. The Razer Nostromo also brings with it the ability to make instant switches between eight different keymaps. Users can also store up to 20 different gaming profiles, which is double of what is available in the Belkin n52te Speedpad.
The Nostromo’s awesome gaming power is derived from the all new onboard chipset and software driver. The combination of these two has effectively removed all limitations on programming, so gamers can define all the macros they want without limitation on lenght or sophistication.
A simple and user-friendly interface makes programming using the configurator software a walk in the park while hiding the power underneath. The same interface also makes it easy for gamers to customize all the buttons on the keypad. A single click also lets them open up and scroll through a vast collection of commands and combinations that have been predefined for quick reference.
The Razer Nostromo is already available with retailers with a price tage of $69.99.
