OCZ’s newest range of SSDs under its Agility and Vertex banners will soon be hitting retail markets. The new SSDs have already been listed by German e-tailer Alternate.de on its website.
OCZ announced its Sandforce controller-based Agility 2 and Vertex 2 solid state drives some time back. The Agility 2 series will feature 50, 100, 200, and 400GB drives. The new Sandforce controller used in the drives means they can read and write data at speeds of 275MB/sec and 265MB/sec respectively.
The Vertex 2 series on the other hand boasts of maximum read and write speeds of 280MB/sec and 270MB/sec respectively on account of the newer and faster SF-1500 Sandforce controller OCZ has put into these. IOPS for 4k random write for the Vertex 2 series are at 20,000. Just like the Agility 2 series, the Vertex 2 range of SSDs will also be available in 50, 100, 200, and 400GB capacities.
Though there is no word yet on exactly when the drives will be released to retail, Alternate.de has listed the 50, 100, and 200GB drives of both series on its website with availability in April; the 400GB drive will be listed later it says. For pricing Alternate.de has listed the Agility 2 series drives at €214.90, €389, and €729 respectively for the 50, 100, and 200GB versions. The Vertex 2 series devices on the other hand have been listed at €229.90, €414, and €839 respectively.
