The micro-ATX race is really heating up with major players DFI and ASUS both unveiling their new units in the last few days. MSI is all set to join the race with its new offering, the X58M. The board really packs a punch with its six memory slots; seven SATA; one eSATA; two PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slots; and one open ended x4 and PCI slots each. The board also has integrated Realtek High-Definition audio and Gigabit LAN.
According to the report on Techpowerup, the board is likely to have overclocking jumpers on the base, though the chances of overclocking are slim due to the board’s six phase power. MSI has provided both IDE and floppy ports to augment the other hardware.
While the mATX is likely to take a few months to ship, MSI is expected to price it aggressively keeping in mind the stiff competition offered by both DFI and ASUS.
