Maingear eX-L 18 – the Most Powerful Gaming Laptop

The terribly powerful eX-L 18 gaming laptop from MaingearMaingear yesterday took the wraps off its eX-L 18 laptop, which easily stakes claim to being the world’s most powerful gaming laptop currently available. With its top-of-the-line specifications, Maingear believes the eX-L 18 laptop will continue to remain the most powerful one around for a good while.

Featuring an 18.4in display boasting a 1980x1080 screen resolution, the eX-L 18 has two 1GB GeForce GTX280M GPUs at its core, giving the system massive graphics processing power. On the CPU side, users have a choice between the Intel Core 2 Duo P8700, the Core 2 Duo T9600, and the Core 2 Duo Extreme X9300. While the first and last processors are clocked at 2.53GHz, the second runs at 2.8GHz.

The default specification of course carries the latest Extreme X9300 processor. Other options available to enthusiasts include a choice between three 2.5in SATA or SSD drives for up to 1.5TB of storage capacity and an optional Blu-ray drive. Among standard specifications are included four USB 2.0 ports, VGA out, HDMI out, FireWire, and Intel’s WiFi Link 5300 a/b/g/Draft-N.

Maingear will also be offering optional integrated HD TV (ATSC) tuner, and yet another choice between 32 and 64-bit versions of Windows Vista Home Premium and Ultimate. A free upgrade to Windows 7 will also be provided. For customisation lovers, Maingear would be happy to offer the services its laser etching technology to engrave a logo or image onto the sleek laptop.

As can be expected, the eX-L 18 is neither a mobility system, nor does it have any battery life worth mentioning. But then, you must pay some price for the fun of extreme gaming on a beast of a system like this. If you would like to get your eX-L 18 designed as per your specifications, just head over to Maingear’s website and get ready to shell out anything between $2,999 for the base version and $5,980 for the top-of-the-line model.
