PDA manufacturer i-mate are apparently nearing completion on their soon to be released X-Stream Digital Media Hub, which is essentially an LCD TV with a Media Center PC built in. The X-Stream runs on Vista Ultimate, has a 500 gig drive, 720 and 1080i support, PVR and a wireless router. Pretty much all you need in one box, without the problematic and untidy nest of cables.

The X-Stream is also a "wireless media hub", which means that it will stream all your media around the house. i-mate have kicked out a few other new products to work with this. First is the X-Stream Dock, a little black box running Windows CE. It'll hook up to a TV for wireless streaming, like the Apple TV. More interesting though, is that it will work like a thin client. With a monitor, keyboard and mouse it looks like a regular PC, albeit without a hard drive or any real power: all the work is done on the big machine over the air. Also no release date, but the price should be under £100 (around US$200).

The X-Stream is not yet available for purchase and pricing has not been confirmed.
