Grandmother Strikes Back: Suing the RIAA for Illegal Investigatory Practices.

Ms. Crain has been dealing with an eight month P2P File Sharing lawsuit, and has had her fill of RIAA hot air. Crain claimed that she never even heard of P2P file sharing prior to the lawsuit, and when confronted with a $4,500 bill she got herself a lawyer, and dropped a lawsuit right back, now known as Sony v. Crain.

Ms. Crain's lawyer recently changed the counter suing allegation to include that the RIAA has used unlicensed investigators to obtain information in the case, and many other cases. Because the case is in Texas, it is illegal to use unlicensed investigators, and counterclaims suggest that the RIAA even encouraged the use of these investigators.

MediaSentry, the company behind all the investigation for the MPAA and RIAA is used country wide. If these counterclaims stand it could very well jeopardize all cases in which these investigators were used throughout various states. We will have to wait and see how the case turns out for the sake of Ms. Crain and other possibly undeserving people accused of file sharing.
