It seems to be the week for AMD Radeon HD 6870 graphics cards… just yesterday we had ASUS release a custom-cooled, factory overclocked card; today it is the turn of Gigabyte. The systems manufacturer today came up with its own version of an overclocked Radeon HD 6870 card in the form of the GV-R6870OC-1GD.
It is quite evident that the card has been prepared specifically for the enthusiast and performance segment – the high quality components used could mean nothing else. For starters the card has been equipped with Gigabyte’s proprietary PCB and cooler. The roughly 10in long PCB used an Ultra Durable VGA+ construction for extra durability, stability, and cool operations.
For cooling, Gigabyte had loaded the GPU with its WindForce 3X cooler. This fabulous cooler is made up of three 80mm fans, and an extra large aluminum fin array that spread the heat around extremely efficiently. This should give enthusiasts lots of space for tweaking and pushing the card beyond a few barriers.
In terms of speeds, the GPU has been already been factory overclocked at 915 MHz against the 900 MHz found on the reference. Memory though is the same as the reference card at 4200 MHz, 1GB GDDR5 and 256-bit interface. For connectivity, the card has two DVI and DisplayPort outputs and a single HDMI port.
Availability and pricing are yet to be revealed.
