Gigabyte Gets Ready for Intel’s Sandy Bridge Processors Page: 1

The second generation of Intel Core processors – Sandy Bridge is slated for release early next year but the chaps at GIGABYTE do not seem to be in the mood to wait until then. The manufacturer has its 6 series motherboards all stacked up and ready for the new chips from Intel.

The three boards of the new 6 series showcased by GIGABYTE today include the P67A-UD3R, the P67A-UD3, and the H67MA-UD2H. All three motherboards come with some enviable features including onboard SuperSpeed USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gbps ports for data transfer, CrossFireX support for high quality graphics, and GIGABYTE patented DualBIOS technology for top-notch failure protection.

GIGABYTE has also added its Ultra Durable 3 design with 2x Copper PCBs to provide the motherboards with longer, more reliable life while meeting the power needs of new generation chips. The unique 3x USB Power design added by the manufacturer means all three boards let you charge your iPhone, iPad, and iPod that much faster.

All boards support 4 DIMMs of dual-channel DDR3 memory modules at 2200, 1600, 1333, 1066, and 800MHz, thereby providing you with vast choice for your memory requirements. Two PCI-e X16, 3 PCI-e X1 and 2 PCI expansion slots have also been included, as have 4 SATA 3Gbps, 2 SATA 6Gbps, 2 USB 3.0, and 14 USB 2.0 ports.

The H67MA-UD2H commands higher specifications in the form of Intel HD graphics, with HDMI / DVI / DisplayPort digital graphics interface for extra clear HD video playback. Along with the P67A-UD3R, the H67MA-UD2H also offers Dual CPU power. In terms of form factor, both the P67A series boards are ATX while the H67MA has been designed for a micro-ATX cabinet.

With this release, GIGABYTE has taken the lead in the motherboard market, especially where Intel’s Sandy Bridge processors are concerned. The only thing that remains to be seen now is the pricing and availability of the new motherboards, both of which are yet to be revealed.
