Crucial release new Ballistix Modules with Thermal Sensors
Well summer’s finally here and a lot of overclocked systems will no doubt be feeling the heat. While there are aftermarket coolers available, RAM is still an often overlooked component when it comes to temperatures. One of the reasons is that most memory modules lack temperature monitoring.
Hot on the heels of Corsair’s recently announced AirFlow Pro ram display, Crucial have decided to implement thermal sensors in their newest Ballistix kit. They have also re-designed the heatspreader to include 32 ‘fins’, which should help to keep things cool.
Crucial’s solution provides real-time temperature monitoring with a downloadable utility, specifically designed for, and compatible with Intel’s Core i5 and i7 processors on the latest Intel chipsets.
So far Crucial have only released one kit with the new thermal sensors, running at 1600MHz on 1.65v with timings of 8-8-8-24.
The 2x2GB kit, part number BL2KIT25664FN1608 is currently only available in the states exclusively at Newegg.com, however they should be on sale direct from Crucial and select partners from July.
