ATI has just announced their full chipset lineup for AMD's new Socket AM2 platform. This lineup consists of the CrossFire™ Xpress 3200, Radeon® Xpress 1100 series of chipsets, and SB600 southbridge.
The SB600 southbridge allows a vast number of connectors, including 10 USB 2.0 ports and 4 SATAII ports, RAID support, and high-definition audio. Also, the SB600 utilizes advanced disk controller technologies to allow faster data access.
The CrossFire Xpress 3200, developed for powerful multi-GPU gaming, now has AM2 support. With advanced tuning capabilities that are a must for any enthusiast and true, unrestricted dual 16x PCI-Express lanes, this is a gaming force to be reckoned with.
The Radeon Xpress 1100 series will a provide powerful mainstream solution, providing up to 33% faster graphics performance than the previous Radeon® Xpress 200, DirectX® 9, and DDRII 667mhz support.
With all of this, it looks like ATI is well-prepared for AM2. Motherboards sporting a combination of either the CrossFire Xpress 3200 or Radeon Xpress 1100 and SB600 will be available from manufacturers such as ASUS, AsRock, Abit, AOpen, DFI, ECS, Epox, Jetway, and MSI. Press Release
