New ROG board appears
The latest micro ATX motherboard under ASUS' republic of gamers has appeared today. Based on the P55 chipset, this motherboard crams in all of the features we have come to expect from the ROG range. The board comes in the increasingly popular red and black colour scheme and from what we can see will support both crossfire and SLI, dual channel DDR3, 7 internal and one external SATA device.
There is also a regular PCI slot, and a PCI-e 4x slot, for the likes of RAID and sound cards. You may be wondering why no PCI-e x1 slot for the bundled X-Fi sound card, well, it's no more. The chip is now built on to the board to save having that extra card taking up space. Also on the board is an onboard power and reset button, numerous fan and usb headers and what looks like ASUS' new GO button, which allows temporary speed boosts on the fly.
A whole load of USB ports on the rear too, as well as the ROG connect feature which allows overclocking from another system or laptop to increase performance.
Overall it looks like a very nice and well designed motherboard and
it's nice to see ASUS haven't forgotten about the micro ATX users who still demand powerful systems.
