ASUS Announce Military Grade P55 Motherboard Page: 1
ASUS TUF Series Motherboards

ASUS' TUF Series Sabertooth 55i Motherboard BoxASUS have unveiled another P55 based motherboard, as part of their newly-developed TUF (The Ultimate Force) series of motherboards which promise the user "exceptional utility, uncompromising stability, and unmatched durability". They say that the TUF Series is specially developed to meet the heavy computing demands of power users and perform well even under extreme conditions. To achieve uncompromising stability, ASUS claim that the TUF series of motherboards undergo a more stringent testing program than what most motherboard producers currently undertake. The board is solidly constructed and equipped with resilient components that have passed demanding military-style testing, meaning it triumphs in the harshest operating conditions to deliver robust performance.

All of the board's heatsinks feature ASUS' CeraM!X, an rough and uneven surface, covered in bumps and grooves to increase surface area and in turn the cooling abilities of the heatsinks. The memory slots also have a clip to attach a 40 or 50mm fan for extra cooling whilst overclocking. Military-certified Capacitors and MOSFETs also provide stabilitiy, efficency and help with overclocking at extreme levels.

ASUS' TUF Series Sabertooth 55i MotherboardIf we turn to standard features then we have two PCI express 2.0 x16 slots for Crossfire and SLI, much like ASUS' Republic Of Gamers motherboards, four DDR3 memory slots, three PCI express x1 slots, two PCI slots, eight SATA ports, one eSATA port, Firewire, Gigabit Ethernet and all of the usual features that are found on the high end boards, such as EZ-Flash 2, Q-connector and onboard power switches.

The board is designed for use with Lynnfield based processors, namely Intel's Core i5 and Core i7 800 series. The board is available from all good retailers now for around £175.
