AMD 7990 to launch in Q1 2012
Around a year ago a pc with around 6GB of system memory was considered High-End well. Now theres talks of a graphics card taking shape which has 6GB of onboard memory 3GB per GPU.
This week AMD launched its Radeon HD 7970 Graphics card based on the its new 28nm GPU with 3GB of GDDR5 memory.
How about two of these in a single card, well AMD has done so with two 7970 GPUs on a single board for an ultimate crossfire solution.
The new card has been given the codename "New Zealand" and will carry the name the Radeon HD 7990.
we expect the card to arrive before april 2012 with some new features not seen before from the AMD lineup, such as the new Zerocore Technology.
This new technology powers down the GPU when not in use or idling to almost nothing which allows for a minute powerdraw from the card, link this with AMD Crossfire technology and you have a power efficient but powerfull pc where the other GPUs can simply power down when not in use for things such as web browsing, however can simply power back up to full potention in no time at all for high end application.
