Zotac MAG Nettop
Zotac are already highly loved for their mini ITX solutions based on Nvidia's ION platform. It makes sense for them to package this into a complete system and sell it that way too, which is exactly what they've done. The first product is the MAG, which stands for "Mini All-in-one Giant", quite a strange name, but I can see where they are coming from.Inside of the MAG you'll find the Nvidia ION chipset with accompanying GeForce 9400M IGP, with either a single core Intel Atom 230 or a dual core Atom 330 CPU. Also included is 2GB of DDR2 RAM, a 2.5", 5400RPM , 160GB hard drive and more connectivy options than you could ever need to use. HDMI, VGA, Optical S/PDIF, Gigabit Ethernet, Wireless N, eSATA, six USB 2.0 ports and a four in one card reader. All of this is packed into a tiny box, measuring just 186mm x 189mm x 38mm!
The size of this thing, coupled with the VESA monitor mount, allowing you to add it to the back of a large screen, makes for a perfect's hidden yet powerful home theatre PC. Better still, Zotac have been very nice and decided not to ship the MAG with an operating system preinstalled, opting to let their users "choose what they want to run". This should also keep costs down, which is always a welcome move, especially at times like this. There is no official work on pricing, or availability, yet. However, it is certainly a very, very good looking product and looks like a very strong contender on paper. Judging by such products, from the likes of ASUS, the MAG should be priced around £200, maybe less.
