Toshiba X205 Gaming Notebooks Get SLI

Toshiba has announced revisions to its Satellite X205 family of 17-inch notebook computers aimed primarily at gamers who want premium digital entertainment in a conceivably-portable package. The Satellite X205-SLI1 nd X205-SLI3 both feature Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT graphics controllers with a combined 512 MB of dedicated video memory and full DirectX 10 compatibility.

The X205-SLI1 sports an HD DVD drive as part of its standard configuration, along with a 1440 by 900 pixel 17-inch LCD display, a 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, 2 GB of RAM, two 120 GB hard drives, 802.11a/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, HDMI output, an integrated Webcam and microphone, gigabit Ethernet, and an integrated fingerprint reader. The X205-SLI3 ups the ante with an external USB HDTV tuner, increased storage up to 320 GB , a 1680 by 1050 pixel 17-inch display, and a 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor.

Both the X205-SLI1 and X205-SLI3 are available now, with base configurations starting at US$1,999.99 and US$2,499.99, respectively.
