Samsung's N110 Netbook to Retail at $450

N110The newly announced N110 Netbook, Samsung’s successor to its popular NC10 is now available to pre-order with US retailers. The new netbook is priced at around $450 (£318), somewhat higher than expected.

With the exception of a six-cell battery that promises to deliver over nine hours of on-the-go operation, the new netbook is not much different from its predecessor. The N110 carries a fairly decent combination of a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor and 945GSE chipset, same as the NC10.

However, when compared to direct competition such as the Eee PC 1000HE from Asus, the N110 falls short. The Eee PC 1000HE features a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280, GN40 chipset and delivers 9.5 hours of battery life. Despite being better equipped, the 1000HE comes at a cheaper price of $389 (£275). Except for being better looking, the N110 from Samsung might find it tough to justify its higher price tag.
