Dell Brings Art to Notebooks

Dell's new Studio range notebooks come with stunning artworkDell is turning its Design Studio series of notebooks into works of art; the manufacturer has introduced more than 120 new designs, colours and paintworks for its Studio 15 and Design Studio 17 notebook range.

Dell’s tryst with notebook styling started in May 2008, when it introduced Mike Ming-inspired paintwork on its Inspiron range; the target was the hip, young crowd of notebook users. Banking on the success of the original concept, the newly launched artwork overhauls Dell’s web-based Design Studio and incorporates work from noted artists including Maya Hayuk, Deanne Cheuk, and Robert Hargrave.

Priced at $85 each, the artworks are joined by a selection of classic designs including 50 PRODUCT (RED) designs. $20 of the proceeds of sale of these designs will go to the Global Fund in the fight against AIDS in Africa.

According to Dell, the new designs extend the revolutionary “built-to-order” concept it introduced in its notebooks. The company hopes the concept will give users of its systems the feeling that “this was built for me”. While the range offers stunning choice to custom enthusiasts, the one drawback is that the Dell Design Studio is currently on offer only to US customers. Dell however, is promising global availability soon.
