The Modbook

Axiotron, Inc. has unveiled a first in the world of Apple. This third-party manufacturer, modded the MacBook into a tablet style laptop without a keyboard. This OSX based tablet laptop has been appropriately named the "ModBook". The ModBook is navigated with a stylus, which happens to have a nice little holder in the casing, and all typing is done with either the built-in handwriting recognition, or an on screen virtual keyboard. The ModBook has kept all the features of the MacBook such as the Intel Core 2 Duo processor, the CD/DVD Combo Drive, and the built in iSight camera which was, in fact, tilted downward to better view the user of the tablet. The ModBook even has a built in GPS with apparent almost real time stats, which comes in handy when you need directions from Google Maps or even if your laptop is stolen. Due to the large crowds it drew at MacWorld, it was awarded MacWorld "Best of Show" honors.

The base configuration ModBook fetches $2,279 and includes a 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo Apple MacBook with full ModBook tablet conversion and a one-year Other World Computing warranty. Additional configurations include such options as: an Axiotron ModBook GPS Module, 2 year warranty extension plans, 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, up to 2GB DDR2 SDRAM, up to 160GB (5400-RPM) or 200GB (4200-RPM) hard drive, 6x or 8x DVD±RW and CD-RW slot-load combo drive.

Other World Computing is accepting pre-orders for the ModBook in the US and Canada through an exclusive partnership arrangement with Axiotron. Customers can place orders at Other World Computing's website or via the reseller's booth at the Macworld Expo.

During Macworld and until January 31st, Other World Computing is offering the complete ModBook base configuration plus the built-in Axiotron GPS Module at a Special Introductory Price of $2,199.

Availability is set for April.

Hi mate and welcome to the site!

I see that you've had the Schrik cams put on your car? What are they like? I'm thinking of having some fitted to my R32 but I'm not sure what difference they'll actually make and the tuning company want a grand for them!!

Cheers :D
