Toshiba introduced its biggest 2.5” drive hard disks just few days back and has today followed it up with the release of its high-capacity Canvio Portable HDDs. The new portable drives are designed to act as backup for desktops and notebooks and also provide extra storage for any files that you might want to carry with you.

Toshiba has come through with four different models of its new Canvio HDDs including two that are 3.1 x 4.7 x 0.53 inches in size and two that are 0.12 inches thicker. The smaller drives weigh 5.2oz and are available in 500GB and 640GB storage capacities respectively. The larger ones on the other hand weigh 6.3oz and come in bigger capacities of 750GB and 1TB respectively.

All the drives run on a USB 2.0 interface and come with pre-installed easy-to-use backup software. The HDDs also feature excellent search capabilities and step-by-step restore functionality. Toshiba has designed the drives to be sleek and attractive, with five different colours including Raven Black, Satin Silver, Liquid Blue, Rocket Red, and Komodo Green.

The Canvio Portable HDDs have been priced at $120, $140, $160, and $200 respectively for the 500GB, 640GB, 750GB, and 1TB models, all backed by a three-year warranty.
