USB 3.0 has been around for a while, but we are yet to see its peak in terms of performance. However, the new and upgraded RAIDDrive from Super Talent gives a fair idea of the data transfer speeds that USB 3.0 is capable of achieving.

Super Talent introduced its original RAIDDrive back in January of this year, which was designed to look like a flash drive but with much higher storage capacities. Even then it was sporting the USB 3.0 standard. However, the flash drive did not achieve the speeds that the USB 3.0 standard is otherwise capable of on account of its controller chips. Now, with the new generation of controller chips for the standard, Super Talent has upgraded the flash drive to achieve unheard of speeds.

The latest version of RAIDDrive has been benchmarked using the Fresco Logic FL-1009B chip. Initial benchmarking tests conducted on RAIDDrive USB 3.0 show that the device can reach data transfer speeds of more than 370 MB/s. This is nearly 55 MB/s higher than the previously recorded top speeds of 315 MB/s.

"This product yet again underscores Super Talent's continued leadership in the USB 3.0 storage market. We now have five USB 3.0 flash drives: from the very fastest, RAIDDrive, to the ultra-affordable, Express DUO", said Super Talent COO, C.H. Lee.

The drive continues to remain fully compatible with USB 2.0 ports, but without the speed. Super Talent has released RAIDDrive in three capacities – 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB. Pricing for the three models have been set at $200, $280, and $350 respectively.
