Patriot Memory today joined the league of secure flash drives’ manufacturers with the release of its Xporter Bolt encrypted flash drive. The new drive features hardware-based encryption to provide top-of-the-line data security.

Secure flash drives have been the flavor of the day for the past several months, with almost every manufacturer coming up with its own encrypted device. Highly in demand among business users who need to carry data along in a secured manner, encrypted flash drives have really picked up in recent months.

The Xporter Bolt flash drive from Patriot Memory is a sleek device with USB 2.0 interface. It weighs less than 10gms and offers storage capacities of 4, 8, 16, and 64GB. In terms of data transfer, its maximum read speed is 27MB/sec while its write speed can go up to 13MB/sec.

For security, the Xporter Bolt comes with 256-bit AES encryption and is designed to completely and irrecoverably wipe out all data on the drive if the wrong password is entered 10 times consecutively. This feature is expected to keep data secure from all unwanted prying eyes. On the down side, it could mean easy pickings for an adversary who purposefully wishes to destroy your data.

This new entrant in the encrypted flash drives market is already available in retail and its various models come with price tags ranging from €32.99 for the 4GB to €321.88 for the 64GB one.
