College Student Designs External Data Visualization

A college student over at Eindhoven Technical University has come up with a rather interesting concept.  Dubbed IVY, the idea is to have an OLED screen on the outside of an external hard drive which displays a block diagram mapping the discs usage.  Bigger files come out as bigger blocks.  No two drives would have the same visualization as no two people use a drive exactly the same, thus creating a sort of personalization factor.

If a manufacturer took up this concept, would you buy it?

Thought I would start a thread where people could link some last minute present ideas they've happened across (and hopefully give me some extra ideas in the process :p)

I'm gonna kick things off with the present i've just gotten for the ex since she is in uni and using a laptop with dire speakers:

Mr. Smith
I got my ex-ex a necklace from here, was cheap and cheerful at £30 but looked classy. Figure this is cool for mums/sisters/new gf's (obviously long term gf's get the good stuff ;))

Just got myself a new woman so I may have to grab a little something for her...

So yeah - Silver By Mail

If you order by tomorrow (in the UK), it should be with you for Xmas.
