Vista SP1 and Update Woes
"The automated roll-out of SP1 hits another delay, and an update breaks things. Are Redmond on the back foot again?"
Microsoft Vista Update Woes and SP1 Delay.
If you're like many who are eagerly awaiting the automated roll-out of Windows Vista SP1 then you may be in for a wait as it appears that there has been another delay. According to our source, Microsoft has confirmed the that the automatic roll-out of SP1 has stalled, although you are still able to manually download the Service Pack.
Furthermore; Redmond's woes don't stop there. It seems that an update for Windows Defender released last week is causing some issues with USB powered devices - namely keyboards and mice, and that under certain circumstances causes the hardware to not work at all. Our advice is to probably give that update a miss. Microsoft are aware of the issue and had this to say:
We are aware of concerns that a recent Microsoft update may be causing problems with USB devices. We are investigating the matter, and at this time, do not have any information to share.
Now this article isn't intended to flame Microsoft, but surely end-users have waited long enough for the automated roll-out of Vista SP1...And don't even get me started on the update that breaks things. If you have something to share then feel free to voice an opinion in our forum
