PS3 To Get DivX Support
DivX has recently announced that they are working with Sony to add support for the DivX codec to the PlayStation 3.
"We are excited to work with Sony Computer Entertainment to bring DivX to PS3," said Kevin Hell, CEO of DivX, Inc. "Our technology will expand the multimedia functionality of PS3 by enabling users to enjoy access to the broad library of content in the DivX digital media format."
No word has been given on when support will be officially added, as products must go through a rigorous testing procedure in order to gain the DivX Certified logo. Once support has been added, current PS3 owners will be able to gain the functionality with a simple software update.
