New Trojan In Powerpoint
"New Trojan In Powerpoint"
Published: 24th August 2006 | Source: N/A |
A new trojan virus is doing the rounds, making use of holes in PowerPoint.
The dropper file that has been designated TROJ_MDROPPER.BH then drops a randomly named .exe file dubbed TROJ_SMALL.CMZ in the Windows Temporary folder. When the file executes it allows an attacker to take complete control of an affected system and run arbitrary code. The gap in powerpoint allows the .exe to download all manner of virus' from hacker sites and servers potentially adding the computer to a bot network. MS has not officially confirmed the existence of the situation but there are talks of a fix being released on the 12th of September.
So Powerpoint users stay vigilant and keep your antivirus software up to date.
