MSI Afterburner Utility
MSI have officially announced their Afterburner graphics card overclocking utility, developed between MSI themselves and the creator of RivaTuner to provide an interface for overclocking, tweaking and monitoring of graphics cards. MSI say it provides up to 85% overclocking capabilities, which they managed with an MSI N275GTX, as well as advanced fan speed control, over-voltage technology, real-time hardware monitoring and up to 5 overclocking profiles. The over-voltage technology is supported on high end ATI and Nvidia cards, such as the GeForce GTX295 and Radeon 4890. MSI's own Lightning series is also supported, allowing even higher overclocking headroom than usual.
Afterburner is available to download free from the official website. It supports both Nvidia and ATI cards, which is nice to see, usually programs are for one or the other. This looks to be a very promising application and it is good to see MSI thinking of the consumer and catering for the overclockers amongst us.
