Microsoft already talking DirectX 10.1

Whilst DirectX 10 hasn't even had time to bed itself into the mainstream gaming world just yet, Microsoft have already unveiled some spicey details about an update to it, DirectX 10.1.

The most highlighted change is that of a new audio API they call "XAudio2", this to replace the oldschool "DirectSound" system which was given the flick when Vista came along (hence Creative's Alchemy project).

To learn more about DX10.1, ExtremeTech and The Inquirer both have the scoop.

Interesting update to say the least.
