Microsoft Makes IE8 (RC1) Available

Redmond-based software giant, Microsoft, has made Internet Explorer 8 (RC1) available for download. The first release client includes a number of new and interesting features over the current version of the browser, namely WebSlices and Accelerator.

WebSlices will give users a way to keep updated about a particular item on a web page like stock prices, the weather or an eBay auction.

Accelerators let users access Web services like maps or translations in a small window without having to leave the page.

Microsoft are also touting that Internet Explorer 8 “…is faster, easier to use and more secure than its competitors.” Furthermore, it can be installed on both 32-bit variants of XP and Vista as well as Windows Server.
