EA Decides Against DRM For Sims 3
"Good news for all you DRM haters!"

Rod Humble, head of EA's Sims division, recently posted on the official Sim 3 website the details of the game's digital protections. Simply put, there is none aside from the venerable CD-key.
The game will have disc-based copy protection – there is a Serial Code just like The Sims 2. To play the game there will not be any online authentication needed.
We feel like this is a good, time-proven solution that makes it easy for you to play the game without DRM methods that feel overly invasive or leave you concerned about authorization server access in the distant future.

This should come as great news to users after the Spore DRM fiasco. Hopefully this type of mindset will pervade throughout EA and result in more future DRM-free releases.
Sims 3 is set for release on June 2nd of this year.
