Blu Ray has really sold well in Europe, reports German website heise online

According to their numbers, 2.37 million Blu Ray discs have been sold and over 3.2 million PS3's are sitting in European homes.

In contrast, the website states that an unbelievable (literally) 55 000 HD DVD standalone players were sold and if I read it right, this includes the Xbox 360 HD DVD player.

OK so that's a little unbelievable, but the disc figures put Blu Ray at a fantastic 79% market share, which is very likely to be far more in 2008 in light of recent events.

More woe for those willing on HD DVD then!
