Rebellion Dodge Dedicated Server Question
Following the uproar around the internet about Infinity Ward not using dedicated servers for Modern Warfare 2, CVG conducted a brief interview with senior producer of Rebellion, David Brickley. Whilst he didn't outright deny the question about the possibility of using dedicated servers, he also did a great job of side-stepping the questions.
CVG : There's been a lot of controversy this month surrounding Modern Warfare 2 and its ditching of PC dedicated servers. Historically AvP is obviously a big PC game. How are you making sure you support the PC version and keep your community happy?
Brickley: This is a title that we want to support for a long time to come. If it's not been announced yet then certainly the PC version will benefit from Direct X 11 features. That's one thing we can use to make sure that people who invest in the hardware will get the absolute best.
Not quite what they asked, so they try again.
CVG : And it was originally a PC title so you can imagine the heritage and the need within Rebellion itself to make sure that people who still play and talk of that game are not left behind. And are you guys going to have those dedicated servers the community so clearly expects?
Brickley: Well the one thing we can say is obviously running an operation like that is monumentally expensive. For the period the original was up, people who played that game got an incredible experience. You know what the internet's like. We're obviously used to getting things for free over the years. I guess on our side the thing we're focusing on is whatever your set-up at home, you get the best possible experience from it. We're just trying to use our time and resources wisely.
He'd make a fantastic politician. CVG were not to be daunted though, and in a replica of the famous "did you threaten to over-rule him" moment, they tried a final time to get some confirmation one way or the other
CVG : So is that a yes or a no on the dedicated servers?
Brickley: As I said the game is still quite a way from release so I guess there are other things to be determined during that time.
Not exactly the most helpful answers, and I'm sure that we all think three opportunities to answer not taken probably means that the answer is no, but they want to avoid the backlash Infinity Ward suffered.

Yeah pretty much means "this gpu goes like **** off a shovel but you cant afford it you tramp"
Though if we were to have a PC case that was platinum coated I'm not sure what award that would come under
TTL Award :p
How about premium product instead of highly recommended? I agree on removing reviewed though.

Reviewed is a waste of time, it's an award for awards sake. We either recommend it or we don't.
Best in class is a little ambigous as it could mean best mid range GPU or best overall GPU regardless of money. If it doesn't get best in class then should it get performance or gamers choice?
One thing that has always bothered me when handing out awards is that sometimes the first product you test is the best but I am reluctant to award the first product tested BIC as there can always be something better, later down the line and then that innitial award becomes null and void but it's already advertised on the manufacturers website so you are stuck.
Imo what we need is a page which shows the products we have awarded. Sort of like an 'OC3D Elite' page with links to the reviews of said items in each class. Maybe do one for 3 levels. Elite, Mid-range, VFM?

I was planning on removing the 'Reviewed' award as it doesnt seem right to give a really sh1t product any kind of award and maybe also add 'Highly Recommended'?
Does anybody else have any ideas of new logo's we can have or ones that should be removed?
