Vista Service Pack 1 to appear sometime during the first three months of 2008
For those eagerly awaiting the arrival of Vista SP1 you will have to wait a little longer according to Shanen Boettcher, general manager of Windows product management. Boettcher was reported as saying:
Redmond's decision to delay SP1 is supposedly to facilitate a move to Windows Vista from XP, as many were hesitant to change until SP1 was released. According to the source Vista SP1 will be more about support for new hardware standards; changes to how Windows can be managed by IT departments; general reliability and security updates. Don't expect much to change visually.
A little after Vista SP1 we can expect to see the release of the EOL SP3 for Windows XP, but Microsoft are clearly not trumpeting this release for obvoius reasons. Windows XP SP3 should be available to testers in the next few weeks and.
Disappointed, or are Microsoft doing the smart thing in delaying?
