Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Super Flower has achieved a rare distinction – that of delivering the first 80 Plus Platinum certified modular PSU to the market. Dubbed the SF-550P14PE, the new modular PSU is currently the highest rated power supply unit in the market.

PSU certification is generally based on the typical efficiency of the unit and PSUs are rated under categories starting with Bronze at the lowest, then Silver, Gold, and finally Platinum being the highest. Talking in terms of efficiency, an 80 Plus Platinum certified PSU has a power supply efficiency of more than 92%. Super Flower’s SF-550P14PE unit achieves this efficiency with extreme ease.

The PSU has been designed using a single 12V rail design and has a single 45.5A rail with modular cabling. It is fully compliant with both ATX v2.3 and EPS12V v2.92. Super Flower has equipped the PSU with a 24-pin ATX, a 4+4 pin EPS, and also one 6 pin and one 8 pin PCI-E connectors each. There is also the possibility of attaching two more PCI-E power connectors – one each of 6 pin and 8 pin.

The SF-550P14PE is also capable of accommodating a number of SATA, Molex, and Floppy connections. All the fixed connectors have been crafted using REMI-cores to keep EMI to a minimum. Super Flower has programmed the fan controller of the PSU such that it turns on the fan only if the internal temperature goes beyond the 65~70°C range.

The SF-550P14PE is a 550W PSU; the company also has another 650W model in its pipeline. Pricing and availability details for both PSUs for Europe and the US are awaited.

That is good for a load temp. Now if that was idle, then you would have something to be worried about :)

But no, that all looks fine, a 920 @ 4.2 is HOT!
