Corsair Release Individually Sleeved Modular Cables

It seems we've been talking and Corsair has been listening once again, in a few mods i have seen recently, it seems people have been sleeving individual cables instead of complete collections of cables, and this has produced a stunning effect when done correctly, it appears Corsair have noticed this and decided rather than to just continue on with what they were doing, to get on with improving one of their core products.

It seems they've come up with a genius idea that rather than spec'ing up your own set of individually sleeved aftermarket cables, which are extensions and clip on to the existing PSU cables, which therefore result longer in much longer cables. This also means you have a much harder job trying to keep your cables behind the motherboard tray tidy and even in some cases hard to get the back panel refitted!

Whereas, if you have a corsair PSU, which i know most people reading this, being enthusiasts, will do, you can just swap your current cables out for nice individually braided, professional quality, genuine corsair cable kit.

They will be on sale in the UK soon, prices are only given in $ not £, so once they get over here, imagine prices to be similar, they are listed at $79.99, $89.99, and $99.99 for the different PSU's that they fit.

the $79.99 one fits the Professional Series HX / Enthusiast Series TXM Series

the $89.99 one fits the Professional Series AX850/AX750/AX650

and the $99.99 one fits the Professional Series Gold AX1200

We have to admit on the face of this we think its an absolute genius idea and cant believe no one has done it sooner. If one of the extension cable manufacturers had done this we dont think they could have made them quick enough. Finally you can buy off the shelf extension cables in a range of colours for your PSU. Keep your eyes peeled for the OC3D review in the next couple of weeks.

I bought a set of the red Corsair AX1200 from Corsair direct and it came out to about £92 including shipping. I bought from their US website and they dispatched from the Netherlands so I didn't pay any import fees. They look really nice, Pics:

Indeed they are pricey. Before these I bought NZXT extension cables and they cost less but only because I bought the PCIe, 24-pin and 8-Pin cables. I didn't get the SATA / Molex etc. But I think if I had done so it would have been about £130. £40 more than Corsairs kit.

I've compared the quality of the Corsair to the NZXT and they look the same to me. The heatshrink is just as good and while the braid used is different they both look good. The NZXT was a bit harder to shape and flex but I'd not really consider that a negative.

One thing is for sure though the AX1200 I have has a 7 year warranty and if it ever dies I'm just going to get a replacement so I think these cables will last me through to 2016 at-least. With that in mind I think I'll get my moneys worth out of them as I would have done with an extension kit that I could move from PSU to PSU. In short I think they are pricey but worth it if you want to go the extra mile on your rigs looks. These are purely a vanity addition.

A good effort but rather expensive. Would prefer less heatshrink showing, too. I sleeved my psu, gpu, sata, case fan and fan controller cables with MDPC sleeve and it totalled around the same price. Still, I had to do it myself but at least I wasn't limited to all one colour on a connector. Do it yourself folks, no voiding of warranties either, unless you open the psu.

I looked and looked and couldn't find anyone selling them. I even tried Google shopping which must have indexed over 100 sites in Europe and had no luck. Keep in mind though if you do order direct from Corsair they will be dispatched from the Netherlands so you won't need to pay import VAT on them.
