BERR turns up the heat on illegal file-sharing
Earlier we brought you news of the RIAA and U.K. ISP's working in unison to stamp out copyright infringement. It appears that the collaboration is a step closer to reality with six of Britain’s biggest ISPs having signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform aimed at eliminating illegal file-sharing.
The six, who will be named later today, will begin by sending letters to customers believed to be engaged in illegal file-sharing. But that’s only one step, and it’s believed that the companies have signed up to take further steps to eliminate the piracy. The Memorandum reportedly also commits the ISPs to developing legal music download services.
To date, BT and Virgin Media have sent letters to customers identified by music body BPI as illegal file-sharers, and the BPI has called for persistent offenders to lose Internet access under a “three strikes” rule, although most ISPs oppose that action.

If U.K. ISP's were to provide a legal music download service do you think it would be supported?

If I remember rightly (I may not), but if you're enrolled as a student that is your employment. I think this is because you get a lot of benefits for being a student anyway

Never really thought about this before and dont really intend on living off benefits for ever but here goes.
I have finished my full time course at college and have enrolled onto a Foundation Degree for September. This course is only part time (8 hours per week) and I am currently looking and applying for jobs to do along side this course but I am having no luck at the minute.
Does this mean I am legible to apply for Job Seekers Allowance?
I am 17 (18 in October), living with my parents and I am not employed at the minute so even once I am back to college unless I find a job I will only be doing 8 hours per week.
I would much rather have a job but the money until I get one would be handy and help me get by. I have had previous jobs such as working at Argos but was only an Xmas Temp was layed off after Xmas.
Any advice on places I could apply for a job would be helpful aswell, I have tried all the usual retailers but had no joy, it just seems they are not willing at employing anyone at the minute.
Thanks, Sam
