:D Well my new toy arrived in the post today, not allowed at it until tuesday, but what is everyones experience with this? I got the combo of OCUK, the headphones and soundcard, as though the X-Fi is a great chip, this one seems a bit better
Wee update on my side, tested them, they are good, but I don't really think THAT good, I mean with my X-Fi Extreme Music and Zalman 5.1s, the bass was excelent, these deffinitly have better directional placement, but the bass seems underpowering and the headphones really are not comfy for long gaming sessions. Soundcard does the trick I suppose, again it can't top the X-Fi for music, but then I only need it purely for gaming, as when it is finished the Barracuda is going to the main PC, and this one (file server) will be taking back the X-Fi and play my music etc
Hmm did wonder what these were like. I've been on onboard sound since I sold my X-Fi for it's disgusting Vista support.
Realtek AL888 using Dolby Bitstream out to a Denon AVR-1507 and a couple of Gale floor-standers for music, Gale Cinema setup for 5.1 and for night music/general gaming I use analogue out to some Sennheiser HD555's. Sounds fantastic tbh, glad I haven't got my X-Fi
