Intel asking serious questions about AMD split
"New worries for AMD? Intel may yet burst AMD's new found bubble."

Troubled waters ahead for AMD?
We reported yesterday on the move made by AMD to spin off it's fabrication side of the business. It would seem that not everyone is welcoming the news. According to a report by Reuters, an Intel spokesman, Chuck Mulloy, has gone on the record as stating that Intel has 'serious questions about this transaction as it relates to the license and will vigorously protect Intel's intellectual property rights'.
AMD currently pay Intel royalties for a patent cross licensing agreement, which allows AMD to utilise the x86 architecture within their processors. By opening up AMD's fabrication to other companies, they are in breach of this agreement, it is claimed. AMD have been asked by Intel to make the terms of their agreement with Advanced Technology Investment Company public, but as yet they have not replied.
