New version of Hotmail to launch next week
Fans of MSN's Hotmail may be a little happier next week after Microsoft confirned that users will receive more storage and enhanced connectivity to Messenger. Whether the revamp is an attempt by the Redmond based software giant to make Google's Gmail a little less attractive, will no-doubt be open to conjecture.
| Windows Live Hotmail has been in the works for over a year, but on the surface there hasn't been a lot of change. The main draw Microsoft points to is its 2 GB storage capacity, which is still overshadowed by Gmail's growing capacity currently at about 2.85 GB. The catch-up game to Gmail also shows in Live Hotmail's e-mail conversation grouping. Seen in Gmail from day one, it will group all replies with the original e-mail. A visual update to the interface will also come with the new version of the web-based e-mail application. Searching through e-mail archives will also be more intuitive, says Microsoft. A premium version of Live Hotmail will be available for an annual fee of about $20, which ups the storage to 4 GB and opens up other "expanded options". |
According to the source it will be business as usual for existing Hotmail customers. Users won't need to do anything on Monday, and all e-mails will remain intact through the transition.

comes with 5.1 surround sound?
That has to be a misprint.
Theres no way they would include audio on a video card. If it isn't a misprint, then it sounds kinda stupid IMO. It could lead to performance drops.
Now to wait for prices.

Slightest chance that perhaps this is an "oops" by design ?
Some true and false stuff ?
If 5.1 channel sound is able to pass through a HDMI connection, it might just be that - a pass through for the sound u already have.

An audio card is included to fully comply with HDMI HDCP :)
I thought the sound passthrough thing was already widely known?
Consoles are becoming computers and computers are becoming consoles..
How do you figure? This is only a passthrough thing and not an integrated sound solution on your video. Its for ease of use. As for the console to computer thing, i highly agree.
my x1600 pro hdmi has a pass through. It's only so you can shove the audio down the hdmi cable into your tv.
