Gateway Logo
The Acer company has recently grown in popularity thanks to decent quality builds, for cheap prices, especially in the laptop range. Over that past few years, Gateway has slowly lost momentum as computer giant Dell has taken over, along with others. It's now rumored that Acer is hoping to buy competitor Gateway in order to expand production and overall company efficiency and profit.

Neither company has offered a comment to sway us in believing these rumors one way or the other. If we look at the past, a lack of comment normally is due to the subject being true, but this may be an exception. Despite it being a rumor, Gateway shares have jumped today thanks to the news. Last year Gateway did turn down a $450 million offer, but without any idea of an offer price, and the increased downfall of Gateway, we can't be sure they would turn down such an offer again. We'll have to wait and see what happen in the end.

thing is, its not worth selling the G80 you already have, for an R600, if the difference is only a mere 5+/- fps..

yeah i know i was being sarcastic :)
But you never know, if the R600 is significantly faster, has better IQ, etc i might :)

TBH I think this is more of a show-off of DX10 (I presume this is DX10 at least) and a lot of hard work by the gfx animators. To bad we never see realism like this in video games, only lame ATi demo videos .

nV would rather spend their time developing new tech than making fancy show-off demo videos :p This demo prolly looks even better on a G80 ;)

her face you can tell is still really fake in my books

Looking forward to RV630. But a $200USD G8x card would be nice too. Ruby demo could have looked better but the vid quality is not so great.

Ruby demo could have looked better but the vid quality is not so great.

Agreed. So difficult to get the real picture when looking at compressed video like that.

Some of the effects I thought looked pretty good.

I'm playing the waiting game to see what real-life results/comparisons between both cards are really like
