Some crazy Germans from AwardFabrik.de have shown the world’s the first waterblock for the Nvidia 8800 series graphics cards. The prototype comes from the company named SilenX, and it looks menacing. Preliminary testing has relealed that the temperature of the GPU drops sharply by 30 degrees Celsius, from 81-85C down to a 50C range. Overclocking scores also show significant improvement.

Apparently according to the source, before the waterblock was installed, the GPU was running in high 90s at a 625MHz clock. With the watercooler you can enjoy a 25degC lower temperature and a stable clock of 660MHz for the GPU, which is almost 100 MHz faster than a default clock.

8800 Front

8800 Back

The reason the cooler works so well is its backside. While the front looks pretty much like many of the waterblocks out there, turning the back reveals the German precision in designing this monster. All of the elements on the PCB are cooled: the G80 GPU, Samsung GDDR3 memory, nV I/O chip and the power regulation. Once the watercooling block becomes commercially available, you can get it here.

Feel free to discuss this monster in our forum

Another outstanding contribution to the industry by Thermaltake. How do they keep on doing it?

Lol. Probably cos people keep on buying it. I'll have the $5 hold-down plate for my MCW60 thankyouverymuch.

By all accounts, Thermaltake makes cr@ppy watercooling products, but what about their cases? I've heard good things about their cases, anyone here want to back that up?

I would liken their cases to a nice case that has been taken and modified by someone who spends too much time watching programs involving space ships. They're decent enough but for the price you can get a 2nd hand Lian Li or a nice blank case and mod it into something sexy

Mr. Popo
The cases are "OK", the problem is the price (The same price as a good case, just wrong.).

Used to like my Xaser case, but that was quite a number of years ago - and now when I look at it I can point out the bad things.

But to be fair, it`s a solid case of the type that has a door on the front top. Is as good as an ATX comes to work inside of, if u got a number of drives and u love fans! Had a thermal display and fan/usb/fire thingy on the top 5.25 bay (that I never got working tbh, then lost interest) - not like the wild-colored Xaser they sell atm, nice`n`black.

As well as solid, it is very very heavy - might be a ThermalAntiTheft security thing !!

Oldy old now tho, one of meh nephews might think it kewl tho >.<

THE GREAT PC ANTI-THEFT CONTEST!:D

I want to know who can build the best anti-theft device(s) into their rig so anyone trying to pilfer their baby gets taken down! (Please include pictures and/or videos of your a/t devices in action.)

Lets see, me sitting next to my machine with about 3 knives within reach and a almost brand new 12 gauge leaning on my speaker.

I would say though, the Thermaltake Armor JR is a very solid case and isnt that heavy.

Anyone's welcome to half-inch my PC coz I need a good excuse to justify buying a new one. :D

I bought a Thermaltake case for my HTPC system and can't really complain about it. Looks smart, build quality is good and it has plenty of room inside. The stock fans let it down but they're easily replaced. Haven't owned a Thermaltake tower case though.
