LG launches worlds highest monitor contrast ratio in the UK
LG Electronics, a global leader in consumer electronics, today announces the launch of its industry leading 5000:1 Digital Fine Contrast ratio (DFC), to the UK. This ground-breaking screen technology will enable users to view the clearest and sharpest images available on an LCD screen today.
Entertainment applications such as games and films are pushing current monitors to their technological limits and with LG’s enhanced DFC of 5000:1, moving images are crisper and brighter, darker images are more distinguishable and distortion is minimal - all of which make for a superior viewing experience.
Dennis Yeo, group product manager, LG Electronics says,
LG plan to launch its 5000:1 range of monitors in Nov/Dec 2007. Individual product details to follow.

So this being an announcement, Gigibyte should follow soon enough, few weeks later Abit will announce (even tho there are pics of their orange board going around), then just after that the ASUS will hit the shelves (prob WC 19th Nov). Followed quickly by Gigibyte and 3 or 4 weeks later Abit.
Hmm, an Abit board on the shelves in January if I`m lucky.
Bah sucky timing. Alteast we can now see the boards that will bring AMD out of 2005. I reckon these boards, new quad, new 8800 - that`s gonna kick some serious gaming butt.
EDIT: Infact Gigibyte: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=682167 for pre-order now.
EDIT: I`m sure even the x2 6400+ performance will improve put in these boards.
I can`t see it wiping the floor and doing 4500 marks, out of the box and costing $288+. That pricing puts it in direct competition with the $279 Q6600. If it`s performance is just as good, they`ve done a pretty good job marketing wize without looking to compete with the $1k Intel chips.
And if it sustains the AMD memory bandwidth legacy, and is allows itself to be clocked suitably - who knows.
Q6600 is a pretty popular chip atm, beat that or compete with it I think is the goal here. The processors to follow, again who knows.
On a purely pessimistic note..... wouldnt several of the laws of physics (and common sense) imply that those funky little ram plates will be pumping heat from the NB into the ram...
Yes, what a bunch of dorks... This heatpipe fad really needs to go by the wayside unless companies start using solid copper heatsinks with pure copper heatpipes. This painted aluminum garbage is absurd.
and perhaps a decent audio chip, X-Fi built into the mainboard or somthing...
but it seems AM2 has just been ignored
they're finally crawling back with AM3, but i think they've just reduced the die size, upped the clock, and FSB, and marketed it as a new processor...

My thoughts exactly...
some company should have come up with an awsome chipset before now, perhaps SIS or Via or someone, and outdone amd's chipsets, or intel's, in terms of features, re-introduced PATA, for 2 ports, got rid of floppy, had upto 16 SATA ports available, upto 16 usb, and other stuff, then AM2 would have stood a chance based on just features...

Have no clue what VIA are doing. I know they`ve ventured into cpus themselves, and amidst doing this seem to have bent-over for both intel and amd to do the chipset stuff themselves. Having said that, it could be that the 2 bullies are keeping all the sweets to themselves in regards to new tech.
K8 probably their `known` last great episode...

lets hope so. Be good to see AMD make a come back
