OC3D Press Release

Official Press Release

As stated in the news article taster, we have the latest news on the impending release of Alphacool's latest GPU waterblocks for Nvidia's 7950 GX and 8800 series graphics cards - the OTC Flat cooler . The full copper cooler features maximised flow with the smallest overall height and highest cooling performance - with a weight that is considerably under that of the original air cooler. The OTC flat coolers are quite literally wafer thin at only 4.25 mm thick, and weighing in at an extremely respectable 264 grams. The OTC Flat coolers are coated with a lacquer or metallic finish. Therefore, giving it an eye catching appearance.

Multiple and flow-optimised channels give the OTC flat cooler a maximum flow of a possible 210 l/h to 294 l/h - an increase in relation to marketable products of up to 35 per cent, despite it's extremely flat build. The flow optimisation lowers the flow resistance and prevents blockage of the channels by the use of a built in filter at the start of the circuit.

The cooler has a minimal remaining base thickness and achieves optimal cooling value. In order to adjust the differences in height of the individual chips, Alphacool have adapted the use of high-quality Thermal pads. The GPU has a direct contact (by the use of thermal compound) to the cooler for highest cooling performance.

If you're like me, then you're itching to get your hands on these gorgeous looking waterblocks. Just imagine four of these bad boys in a quad SLI configured rig! They'd make a worthy addition to a high-end PC, in both looks and performance, I'm sure. According to Alphacool, the OTC Flat coolers should be available from the 1st of January 2007. The expected pricing shedule for the OTC Flat cooler, at this moment, is unknown.

Well I'd assume it would give consistant readings, even if they are not accurate. This would mean I could show a difference in the impingement when the block was in place the not in place.

But hows it work? I need a T balancer?

I doubt these are accurate. I was thinking along the lines of something more professional, but.. as long as they show an accurate difference.

What about like two 5 gallon buckets and see how long it takes to pump from one to the other, that should do it right?

Wow, good idea :)

Was talking about how I get the reading

@ Nick - can't see anything more accurate...and I expect anything like that would cost a fortune

Kempez, I'm liking that simple idea :).

That and a stopwatch.

These certainly look very interesting. According to Chris @ Alphacool these aren't restrictive...so we'll see when I have on in the labs :)

OK, I am smack in the middle of a G80 waterblock review. Who do I talk to about getting a set of these blocks to include in the review? Will they be @ CES next week? I will be there.
