Official Press Release

VIA Technologies, Inc, a leading innovator and developer of silicon chip technologies and PC platform solutions, today announced support for the advanced SPI bus in all new VIA South Bridge chipsets. The SPI bus is an advanced I/O bus that makes the support of system BIOS simpler and more cost effective through an onboard BIOS programming module.

The innovative implementation of SPI on VIA-based boards will enable even easier updating, debugging and reprogramming of BIOS, and at even lower cost, by attaching a flash programming module, such as those from leading provider DediProg, to the easy-to-use onboard connector, even when the computing device is powered down. VIA will integrate SPI bus support into new VIA chipset product releases to support all leading processor platforms, commencing with the upcoming VIA VT8237S chipset South Bridge, which is sampling now, and will provide manufacturers with greater flexibility in product design and support.

"We are excited to work with VIA to introduce the SPI bus into the feature set of the new VIA chipset products," commented Chong Tsao, Sales Executive, DediProg Technology Co. Ltd. "Increasingly, vendors and manufacturers need innovative technology to manage and introduce new features easily into the BIOS, and the SPI bus enables them to easily do this."

"VIA chipsets have a strong tradition of integrating advanced key technologies that reflect our commitment to end-users and mainboard manufacturers alike," commented Chewei Lin, Vice President of Product Marketing, VIA Technologies, Inc. "By supporting the SPI bus, VIA is providing our motherboard customers with greater flexibility in BIOS management and better cost structure."

Thanks GTDH;)

Gonna try some of them later.

With regards to the lag, I think it's one of those games that runs better from a fresh boot, rather than messin about for 1/2hour with something else then starting DMoMM. The lag could be helped by RAM fragmentation.

I find things run a lot better that way, it's not the only game that does that. If I run Far Cry immediately after messing with other games/apps, I find it pauses in mid game quite a lot, Re-boot and no probs.

Well guys, I picked up DMoM&M Collectors Ed yesterday for the bargain price of £20 from Gamestation, in their second hand section:D

I couldn't believe it when I completed the first quest (Retrieving the crystal). On the second quest, as I was approaching the castle, it turned into a 5spf (yes, I do mean 5 seconds per frame) Slide-show and it sounded like Porky Pig. I was devastated:confused: Then I found out about a patch, D/L'd it, installed it and that sorted it all out:D . But yep VERY heavy on combat. Took ages to get into the castle 'cos I kept gettin' killed by these little imps that looked like Gollum.

if the engine is buggy how come HL2 runs perfrectly, CSS would if they stopped faffing with it and countless mods run like water.

And downloading it without paying is illegal.

Yeah I don't get this comment.... I find that source runs really well on quite low spec machines. It's been developed for a while by the team responsible for HL1. Loads of people decide to make mods on this engine as it's easy to work with and good physics.

HL2 doesn't crash out that much, a crash or 2 is expected from any game/engine. Back up your comment - Which bugs do you mean?

i said dark messiah is laggy because of the bad source engine they modified for it. im not talking about hl2 or css...

HL2 and CSS run on exactly the same engine as DM. Are you saying they've screwed up valves creation?

I’m quite intrigued now, as in another thread youve stated you dont have a computer that can run CSS. Then you go bashing oblivion for being poorly written. How much experiance do you have of these games at anything below minimum settings on an uplayable computer?

my friend gets all the new hardware and i play on them hahahaha. i cant even install them on my laptop lol

he does benchmarks and stuff like that. been at xs for about 3 years i think now. i just like to play games

the difference you see upgrading from x1900xtx to 8800gtx is so significant in dark messiah than any other game
