PS3 Goes 65nm

It seems that a hard drive cutdown was not the only change made for the new 40GB Playstation 3 kit. It has been revealed that Sony has followed Microsoft's lead by placing a updated 65nm Cell processor in the new PS3. This change has yielded a 65W drop in power consumption from 200W to 135W, allowing cooler and quieter operation.

In addition to this, the motherboard has been swapped out for one with a new layout, shrinking the heatpipe cooler and adding a button battery to keep time while the console is off.
