Phenom B3 revision launches today

The long awaited B3 revision of the Phenom Quad-Cores is released today, thankfully addressing all bugs from previous B2 chips.

There are a few chips coming to replace the B2s. The cheapest of which is the Phenom 9550 which replaces the Phenom 9500, it has a speed of 2.2Ghz and a price of about £117.41 just like the B2 version. A few more are floating about too, the 2.4Ghz 9750 for around £196.23 and finally the 2.5Ghz 9850, the price is unknown at this moment in time.

The TDP(Thermal Design Power ) for all models up to 2.4Ghz is 95watts while the 9850 is rated at around 125watts.

We have also been told that AMD will release a 9850 Black Edition as well as the 9950 clocked at 2.6GHz these have yet to be listed so prices and TDP have not yet been confirmed.

Also in other AMD news, the company have said they will be laying off roughly 1700(10%) of their staff. This may not be a good thing for the poor people working for them but it has been rumored by having this 10% cut AMD will cut operating costs. This will be a good thing for stock holders and investors.

The cuts are scheduled for the next two weeks.
