NVIDIA Shafted By Intel
"Intel's lack of sharing information has placed NVIDIA in a bit of a bind."

As rumors have been flying around about 45nm Penryn support for NVIDIA's 680i-based motherboards, the guys over at HardOCP decided to go right to the source. When questioning NVIDIA, this is the response they got:
The (680i) MCP fully supports both dual core Wolfdale and quad core Yorkfield, but at the board level, a motherboard circuit change is required for quad core YF.
NVIDIA stressed that their next-gen chipset will have complete support. So this means that owners of current 680i motherboards will have to buy new boards if they want to upgrade to the current and upcoming 45nm quad-core processors.
Now it is very unlikely that NVIDIA would have allowed the boards to go out knowing of this flaw, so it seems Intel may not be playing very nice. This is emphasized by the fact that Intel will be releasing their own video cards and "SLI" solution come 2008.
