Intel delay conroe

"Intel delay conroe"

intel core duo

With the quite obvious lack of Desktop conroe chips around the web it seems Intel have delayed the proper launch of Conroe until 26/08/2006

Apparently this won't delay the US launch when some retailers have expected to get some in 27/07/2006.

Can anyone say "paper launch"??

This is pretty upsetting to those who are waiting for their shiny new chips and I would have expected better from the world biggest processor manufacturer

Mr. Smith
Intel will be attacking the value market hard with the new Conroe-L chip Q2~Q3 2007.

The Conroe-L is single core and will come in two flavours, 440 @ 2.00GHz, 512KB L2 cache for $59 and the 430 @ 1.8GHz, 512KB L2 cache for $49.

The focus today is on the Celeron 440.

With a lower clock speed it is of no real suprise the 440 consumes less power and dissipates less heat than its older Celeron D counterpart.

How does this lower clock speed affect performance? Lets take a look.

The 440 favours PC Mark 05, Super Pi and Sandra 2 but is beaten by AMD's 3500+ in Science Mark 2, Cinbench 95 and 3d Mark 05.

The trend in 3D software continues with AMD generally performing better.

Below is a comparison against the Celeron 440 2.0GHz, Celeron 400 2.66GHz and the Celeron 400 3.0GHz.

Do you think there is a space in the market for this low cost chip?
